About the book

Globally, malnutrition is considered as the major threat for the human race. In 2016, an estimated 155 million children under the age of 5 years were suffering from stunting, while 41 million were overweight or obese. The consequences of malnutrition are very lethal ranging from lower immunity to growth failure. Nearly, half of all deaths in children under 5 are attributable to undernutrition, translating into the loss of about 3 million young lives a year. Undernutrition puts children at higher risk of dying from common infections, increases the frequency and severity of such infections, and delays recovery. This book intends to provide the reader with a comprehensive overview of the malnutrition, etiology, devastating consequences and food responsive and nonresponsive strategies for its management. Overall, this book will serve as ready to references book on malnutrition onset to management.
