About the book

The pandemic COVID-19 is bringing the attention of the global population to the importance of medicinal plants and traditional therapeutic systems. We have avoided all-natural products throughout life which has resulted in facing different types of biological and geographical problems. The contemporary situation is indicating that we should return to nature and natural products like medicinal plants. Traditional practices are going to become extinct. Therefore, it's our responsibility to restore and document them for future generations. The antimicrobial resistance and side effects of synthetic drugs are also observed globally and their issues have to be reduced as soon as possible. The above-mentioned importance of plants, the status of traditional therapeutic systems, anti-microbial resistance, side effects, and the need to screen new raw materials for formulation explain the need for proper documentation of medicinal plants.

The book entitled "Medicinal Plants" is the need of the hour during the COVID-19 pandemic. It will give a comprehensive overview of medicinal plants from plant defense mechanisms to the conservation of medicinal plants.

Introducing your Author Service Manager

Ms. Elena Vracaric

As an Author Service Manager, my responsibilities include monitoring and facilitating all publishing activities for authors and editors. From chapter submission and review to approval and revision, copyediting and design, until final publication, I work closely with authors and editors to ensure a simple and easy publishing process. I maintain constant and effective communication with authors, editors and reviewers, which allows for a level of personal support that enables contributors to fully commit and concentrate on the chapters they are writing, editing, or reviewing. I assist authors in the preparation of their full chapter submissions and track important deadlines and ensure they are met. I help to coordinate internal processes such as linguistic review, and monitor the technical aspects of the process. As an ASM I am also involved in the acquisition of editors. Whether that be identifying an exceptional author and proposing an editorship collaboration, or contacting researchers who would like the opportunity to work with IntechOpen, I establish and help manage author and editor acquisition and contact.
