About the book

Biotechnology studies ways of using living organisms, their systems or metabolic products to solve technological problems and has been known to mankind for many centuries. Molecular biotechnology explores the possibility of creating living organisms with the necessary properties by genetic engineering and other methods. Research in the field of molecular biotechnology has made it possible in the 20th century to improve traditional biotechnological production, improve the quality of food products and significantly increase the productivity of living organisms. With the advent of genetic engineering, molecular biotechnology also includes laboratory methods, for example, the use of recombinant DNA and cell cultures were grown in vitro.

Today, the leading role of molecular biotechnology plays the processes of genetic engineering and gene editing, using genetically modified organisms in pharmacology, agriculture, biodegradation, scientific research. This book aims to address the application of molecular biotechnology in science and industry, diagnostics and therapy, the history and perspectives of new methods and approaches of molecular biotechnology.

Potential authors submit chapter proposals ready for review by the academic editor and our publishing review team.

Approved chapters written in full and submitted

Deadline for full chapters: January 13th 2020

Once approved by the academic editor and publishing review team, chapters are written and submitted according to pre-agreed parameters

Full chapters peer reviewed

Review results due: April 2nd 2020

Full chapter manuscripts are screened for plagiarism and undergo a Main Editor Peer Review. Results are sent to authors within 30 days of submission, with suggestions for rounds of revisions.

Book compiled, published and promoted

Expected publication date: June 1st 2020

All chapters are copy-checked and typesetted before being published. IntechOpen regularly submits its books to major databases for evaluation and coverage, including the Clarivate Analytics Book Citation Index in the Web of ScienceTM Core Collection. Other discipline-specific databases are also targeted, such as Web of Science's BIOSIS Previews.
