About the book
There have been many studies conducted by various scientists worldwide to deepen the understanding of tsunamis but there is a need to adopt a new approach and lessons learned from other studies to be implemented on each other's models. In this way, compression studies, integrated studies, regional studies will reach/influence global studies.
The far-field and near-field tsunami caused by an earthquake as a major source (75%) and submarine eruption, landslide, land seismic activity as a minor source require special attention.
Hopefully this book will highlight different possible tsunami sources including land earthquake, submarine and coastal landslides, volcanoes etc.
Another important topic that also needs to be highlighted are mud volcanoes (both onshore and offshore). These are important for the coastal development in the subduction margins. It is vital that the above is discussed worldwide but emphasis should be put on Makran Subduction zone.
