About the book

Ferroelectrics are spontaneously polarized materials which exhibit a range of properties and applications. Ferroelectricity is a well-known studied phenomenon commonly used in scientific and industrial communities. Such materials are being further classified based on their behaviour, properties, functions, and applications. New ferroelectrics and hybrid structures are developed using different synthesis and fabrication techniques. Different phenomena and interesting properties are studied theoretically and experimentally using advanced characterization techniques. Ferroelectric materials are the building block of different devices and technological innovations.

This book aims to present an overview of the basic phenomenon of ferroelectricity, different ferroelectrics including theoretical study, synthesis, characterization, application, and ferroelectric devices. The chapter and different topics of the book should provide a key understudying on ferroelectrics which will be very much helpful to students, researchers and professionals.

The book on ferroelectrics aims to include fundamental theories on ferroelectrics with the latest research on ferroelectric materials and devices. The scientific advances and exciting physics in the developing area of ferroelectrics will be included for future devices.

Applications to edit the book are assessed and a suitable editor is selected, at which point the process begins.

Chapter proposals submitted and reviewed

Deadline for chapter proposals: October 30th 2020

Potential authors submit chapter proposals ready for review by the academic editor and our publishing review team.

Register for the book

Approved chapters written in full and submitted

Deadline for full chapters: December 29th 2020

Once approved by the academic editor and publishing review team, chapters are written and submitted according to pre-agreed parameters

Full chapters peer reviewed

Review results due: March 19th 2021

Full chapter manuscripts are screened for plagiarism and undergo a Main Editor Peer Review. Results are sent to authors within 30 days of submission, with suggestions for rounds of revisions.

Book compiled, published and promoted

Expected publication date: May 18th 2021

All chapters are copy-checked and typesetted before being published. IntechOpen regularly submits its books to major databases for evaluation and coverage, including the Clarivate Analytics Book Citation Index in the Web of ScienceTM Core Collection. Other discipline-specific databases are also targeted, such as Web of Science's BIOSIS Previews.

Prof. Dipti Ranjan Sahu is working as an Associate professor in Physics at the Namibia University of Science and Technology. He received his doctoral degree in Physics from Utkal University, India. He has worked as a research fellow, postdoctoral researcher, visiting scientist and academic faculty at several institutions around the globe, including the Institute of Materials Science (India), National Taiwan University (Taiwan), National Cheng Kung University (Taiwan), and University of Witwatersrand (South Africa). His research focus is on multifunctional materials including nanomaterials, ceramics, composites, spintronics, Multiferroics, Ferroelectrics, magnetic materials, and applications of functional materials in devices. He has published 89 international journal articles, 2 book chapters, and more than 100 research articles in conference proceedings and meetings. His research publications received more than 2500 citations so far. He also acts as a reviewer for more than 25 international journals and has reviewed more than 200 articles.

Introducing your Author Service Manager

As an Author Service Manager, my responsibilities include monitoring and facilitating all publishing activities for authors and editors. From chapter submission and review to approval and revision, copyediting and design, until final publication, I work closely with authors and editors to ensure a simple and easy publishing process. I maintain constant and effective communication with authors, editors and reviewers, which allows for a level of personal support that enables contributors to fully commit and concentrate on the chapters they are writing, editing, or reviewing. I assist authors in the preparation of their full chapter submissions and track important deadlines and ensure they are met. I help to coordinate internal processes such as linguistic review, and monitor the technical aspects of the process. As an ASM I am also involved in the acquisition of editors. Whether that be identifying an exceptional author and proposing an editorship collaboration, or contacting researchers who would like the opportunity to work with IntechOpen, I establish and help manage author and editor acquisition and contact.
