About the book

This book discusses a brief history of how powder metallurgy is developed, who developed the PM Field, and also discusses the advantages and disadvantages of powder metallurgy. It will contain advanced methods like atomization, mechanical alloying, electrolysis, reduction methods, and many more. This book gives an insight on how to achieve greater densities along with improved properties using different advanced sintering techniques. The structure-property relation and the chemistry behind the powder metallurgy are also explained in detail. The book will explain the role that powder metallurgy industries can play in the field of sustainable aviation, amphibious aircraft, onshore and offshore wind turbine design with reduced wake effect, civilian nuclear reactors, biomedical devices, and designing the electric and hybrid vehicles. Also, we will discuss unique applications of powder metallurgy in environmental applications, medical, pharmaceutical, food, and agricultural industries. These types of topics are usually not available in any powder metallurgy books. This book is very helpful for students, Ph.D. scholars, and industrial people working in mechanical, metallurgical, chemistry, biomedical, and agricultural, pharmaceutical fields.

Dr. Shashanka Rajendrachari is Assistant Professor at the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Bartin University, Turkey. He obtained his Ph.D. from the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at NIT Rourkela, Odisha, India. Dr. Rajendrachari has a very good Interdisciplinary academic and research background (Electrochemical sensors, Nanomaterials, Corrosion, Powder metallurgy) and, his name was listed in the top 2% best scientists of the world for the year 2020 as reported by Stanford University, USA and published by Elsevier. He completed his M.Sc (Industrial Chemistry) and M.Tech (Nanoscience and Technology) from Kuvempu University, Shimoga, India. He has published 5 book chapters, 4 books, and 41 international research publications. Dr. Rajendrachari was awarded the Grand Powder Metallurgy student of the year-2015 award from the Powder Metallurgy Association of India at IIT Bombay. Recently, he was won the prestigious 'Young Scientist-2020” award at the 4th International Scientist Awards ceremony on Engineering, Science and Medicine held in Chennai, India. He was also awarded the 'Young Achiever of the Year-2020” award by DHS Foundation, New Delhi, India, and CAMPBELL University, North Carolina, USA at PERFICIO AWARDS-2020, New Delhi, India. Dr. Rajendrachari is currently serving as guest editor and editorial member of various International Journals.
