About the book
Since the commercial use of polymers, the charge has been used at the beginning to reduce the cost of production. However, polymer fillers have provided a wide spectrum of applications in several areas. Today there is a lot of information available about the use of fillers in polymers.
The global concern about the contamination of plastics and microplastics has caused many countries to ban the use of plastic bags and straws. Biopolymers are the natural alternative to polymers, due to low cost and biodegradation, but they have disadvantages such as a poor barrier and mechanical properties. The use of fillers in mixtures of biopolymers, biopolymers-polymers has as the main idea to improve the mechanical and barrier properties.
The main scope of the book is to provide information on the use of fillers in biopolymers, in areas such as basic research related to the molecular interaction between fillers and biopolymers, using techniques such as rheology, intrinsic viscosity, IFTR, among others. The practical applications of fillers and biopolymers can also be reviewed in several areas such as (but not limited to) food, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals.
