About the book

Droplet-wall interactions can be applied in various fields, such as a vehicle, marine, and aircraft engines which not only have a great influence on efficiency but also on emission. In addition, it can also be applied in agriculture, biomedical and viral transport for spray.

However, it is still difficult to clarify the mechanisms from it, especially considering the heat and mass transfer during impact. Recently, with the development of visual technology, a range of interesting behaviors can be observed. Among them, the wall property should be characterized as dry or wet walls as its roughness and temperature significantly affect the impact phenomena. Moreover, the sign or multiple drops behaviors should be correlated together to create proper threshold or limitation for splashing/stick clearly. Furthermore, the simulation and mathematical models should propose optimization and improvement of the accuracy of numeral calculations. Therefore, this book intends to provide its audience with a comprehensive overview of the current study in the drop-wall interactions that focuses on both experimental and numerical developments in this critically important area.

All chapters are copy-checked and typesetted before being published. IntechOpen regularly submits its books to major databases for evaluation and coverage, including the Clarivate Analytics Book Citation Index in the Web of ScienceTM Core Collection. Dr. Hongliang Luo is currently working as an assistant professor at Hiroshima University, Japan. He has received a scholarship from the Japanese Ministry of Education, and KAUST (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology) fellowships. His research focuses on biofuels spray impingement and fuel droplet behavior and combustion. He has published more than 30 papers. Among them, in 15 papers he is indexed by SCI as the first and corresponding author. Moreover, he is a reviewer for several international journals, such as "Applied Energy", "Energy", "FUEL", "Journal of the Energy Institute", "Energies", "The International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology", "Chinese Journal of Aeronautics", "Coating", "Journal of Marine Science and Engineering", "International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health", "Journal of Visualization", "SAE International Journal of Engines", "Indian Journal of Engineering & Materials Sciences", "Journal of Solar & Photoenergy Systems". He is also a member of the “The Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers”, “The Japan Society of Automotive Engineers”, “The International Society of Automotive Engineers”. He is the member of the Technical Program Committee (TPC) of International Conference on Environment and Clean Energy 2020 (ICECE 2020).
