About the book

This book is dedicated to a translational approach to cardiac arrhythmias. The anatomical and pathophysiological background is to be understood first to find the focus and reversible triggering causes of arrhythmias. One facing with arrhythmias has to think out of the box, considering the non-cardiac causes as well. Perioperative arrhythmias of cardiac and non-cardiac surgery patients is a common issue to deal with.

The book provides an update on old-school and newly developed antiarrhythmic drugs, clarifying the limitations of the pharmacologic approach. The nonpharmacological treatments, such as cardiac implantable devices and ablation therapy of arrhythmias are detailed. Nowadays it is a must to discuss the approach to the arrhythmias of the COVID-patient urging special pathways in diagnosis and treatment. Sports and peri-arrest arrhythmic conditions, resuscitation is also discussed in this book. Medical students, residents, cardiologists, anesthesiologists, intensive care specialists will be able to use this knowledge in their daily routine.
