Scope
This topic is aimed at addressing the most recent results of educational research and innovation, particularly oriented to improving the teaching-learning processes and, more broadly, understanding of the different educational, cultural, social and affective variables in this process. In this regard, it seeks to address topics of special interest such as health and educational success, active learning, second language acquisition, teacher training in all disciplines, higher education, intellectual and learning disabilities, etc., as well as the development of a new approach to education.
Its approach is configured in a framework of cooperation and didactic and pedagogical exchange between the different areas of knowledge that investigate the teaching and learning of school disciplines and educational processes and promotes the creation of new inter and transdisciplinary lines of research, based on cohesive research teams. It is worth highlighting the inclusive vocation and social responsibility of this topic both in terms of the conception of a socially responsible and proactive educational practice and in terms of the deepening of theoretical, methodological and epistemological approaches to the most pressing social problems and controversial issues. Consequently, its objective includes the challenges of the human being in the 21st century regarding aspects linked to the quality of life and democratic competencies, through research and the development of educational programs that are committed to the formation of a critical, reflective, competent and healthy citizenship.
In accordance to its contribution in shaping inclusive and innovative societies, the topic is specifically aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 4: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all; and SDG 5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls), and with the promotion of education for sustainable development.
