Scope
Maternal-fetal medicine, also known as perinatology, is an important specialty of obstetrics and gynecology. In the United States, it requires a specialized exam. This subject provides a comprehensive overview of topics that could be elaborated through three main topic areas.
The first, “Prenatal Care in Normal and Pathological Pregnancies,” deals with the challenges and care of physiological and pathological pregnancies. The subtopics include “Ultrasound Screening during Pregnancy,” “Genetic Screening and Diagnostics during Pregnancy,” “Preeclampsia,” “Gestational Diabetes,” “Thrombophilia,” and “Twin Pregnancy.”
