Dr. Carmine Massarelli (environmental technologist at the National Research Council, Institute for Water Research) is an expert in the design of complex monitoring programs of water and soil aimed at the correct assessment of the environmental status. Expert in data analysis activities through Machine Learning, he carries out tasks of highly technical and professional content in the field of Smart Technologies research for the characterization and monitoring of contaminated and degraded sites, based on the integration of spatial data, interoperability, and data infrastructures. He is also an expert in the use of Open Source software for the management of Geographic Information Systems, geo-database administration, programming, and IT-related roles. He is currently scientifically responsible and coordinator of several research projects for regional monitoring of pesticide residues in water bodies, pollution by nitrates of agricultural origin, understanding the dynamics of environmental illegals, and safeguarding biodiversity.
