About the book

We know that atherosclerosis is primum movens of several clinical manifestations such as coronaropathy, vascular obstructive diseases (regarding upper and especially lower limbs) and cerebrovascular affections like a stroke. Along the years, so many theories have been made about the "athero-world" and so nowadays, for example, we know the importance of inflammation and/or inflammatory cells and cytokines in generating atheromas and plaques. Therefore, contrasting atherosclerosis is crucial for "modern" physicians who care more and more old patients with several comorbidities. By starting with definitions and physiopathologic mechanisms we' re going to focus our attention on novelties in term of diagnosing, treatment and prognosis. There'll be a journey along the vessels watching on actual knowledge and hoping on further discovers which may modify overall vascular burden. Our expectation will be a tomorrow "athero-world" in which health professionals' aim is going to become "to care patients" and not only "to cure them".
