About the book
Global food security, and contributing to social and economic development, are increasingly difficult. It is within this context that agricultural producers have to operate, meeting the demand of the agri-food sector to feed growing populations in a sustainable manner. The agri-food sector has a major role to play in ensuring food security and economic development, especially for developing/low-income countries. It is responsible for producing food that is nutritious and affordable to a growing world population, and for generating income and employment for a large number of people involved along the agri-food chain.
For feed, the future, without sustainable crop production will not be able to meet the demand of the rapidly growing population of producers, and scientists have to adapt to find new ways to mitigate the impact of climate change and associated risks on their farming community. Agricultural producers are in need of science-based evidence to inform them how to overcome the above challenges. Through this book, a variety of scholars explore risks and potential solutions to inform producers and policymakers regarding practices towards sustainable crop production.
