After the Postdoctoral Research, he moved to the Multinational Pharmaceutical Company Bangalore, where he worked as Research Associate for nearly three years.

About the book

Polyimides are a new generation of polymers with inherently rigid chains and of high commercial importance. Polyimide films have posses rapid development in current years, the majority of the uses include engineering applications. Polyimide possesses excellent thermal, mechanical, and electrical properties and therefore has found many applications in broad technologies, ranging from microelectronics to high-temperature matrices and adhesives for gas separation membranes. The ability of polyimide films to maintain their excellent electrical, thermal, physical, and chemical properties over a wide temperature range has opened new design and application areas to plastic films. These materials are prepared by incorporating highly stable and rigid heterocyclic ring systems into the polymer chain. The thermal stability is further significantly improved by incorporating aromatic rings on the backbone and/or side groups. Nowadays the polyimide films have been used in some electrical and electronic insulation applications in various industries such as aerospace, energy, automotive, and electronics.

The current book deals with the applications of polyimide synthesis, properties, which are applicable to current advances in research and development. Also, an outlook of future research directions and challenges for polyimide. More significantly, this book invites book chapters from advanced research work in polyimide, which includes synthesis, properties, and applications.

Approved chapters written in full and submitted

Deadline for full chapters: July 27th 2021

Once approved by the academic editor and publishing review team, chapters are written and submitted according to pre-agreed parameters

Full chapters peer reviewed

Review results due: October 15th 2021

Full chapter manuscripts are screened for plagiarism and undergo a Main Editor Peer Review. Results are sent to authors within 30 days of submission, with suggestions for rounds of revisions.

Book compiled, published and promoted

Expected publication date: December 14th 2021

All chapters are copy-checked and typesetted before being published. IntechOpen regularly submits its books to major databases for evaluation and coverage, including the Clarivate Analytics Book Citation Index in the Web of ScienceTM Core Collection. Other discipline-specific databases are also targeted, such as Web of Science's BIOSIS Previews.

Dr. B.P. Nandeshwarappa obtained his M.Sc., and a Ph.D. degree from Kuvempu University, Karnataka, India. He was a Postdoctoral fellow at the Institute of Fine Chemicals, East China University of Science and Technology, Shanghai. After Postdoctoral Research he moved to the Multinational Pharmaceutical Company Bangalore, where he worked as Research Associate for nearly three years. He has fourteen years of teaching experience. His research interests are centered on organic synthesis, process developments, and medicinal chemistry. His recent work involves the synthesis and biological activities of novel heterocyclic compounds. He has published many scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals and presented his research papers at national and international conferences, seminars, and workshops. Dr. B.P. Nandeshwarappa has edited five books, authored seven specialized books, and five book chapters. He has guided fifty-one dissertations for Postgraduate and currently guiding for Ph.D. Scholars. Dr. B.P. Nandeshwarappa received several awards like a young scientist, best poster presentation award in recognition for his outstanding contribution to education and research. He served as a member of the Board of studies, Board of examination, and different responsibilities at the university level. He is currently working as an Associate Professor at the Department of Studies in Chemistry, Davangere University, Davangere, India.
