Oliver Bathe
Oliver Bathe is associate professor of surgery and oncology at the University of Calgary. He practices as a surgical oncologist with a special interest in hepatobiliary, pancreatic and gastrointestinal tumors. He implemented one of the first trials investigating the role of neoadjuvant chemotherapy in the context of colorectal liver metastases. As a result of his long-standing interest in the multimodality approach to treating colorectal liver metastases, he has served in a leadership role in the NCIC Clinical Trials Group Gastrointestinal Tumor Group, as well as other cooperative clinical trials groups. Bathe also directs a basic and translational research program. Using annotated clinical samples encountered in clinical practice, he and his group have successfully identified biomarkers that refine the diagnosis of gastrointestinal and pancreatic tumors and that facilitate the personalization of clinical management.
