Juan José Valdez-Alarcón

Dr. Juan José Valdez-Alarcón is a Research Professor at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Production in the Multidisciplinary Center for Studies in Biotechnology at the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo, Michoacán, Mexico. A microbiologist with a Ph.D. in biotechnology, his research focus is molecular epidemiology and biotechnology approaches to the study and control of bacterial diseases in animals. He has published more than 60 research papers in national and international scientific journals and nine book chapters. He has also been a member of advisory committees for national and international scientific meetings, a reviewer of microbiology topics for well-recognized scientific journals, and is currently Coordinator of the Animal Microbiology Network of the Microbial and Invertebrates Genetic Resources Subcommittee of the Agricultural and Rural Development Secretariat in Mexico.
