Dr. Miguel Delgado received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electronics Engineering from the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC), in 2007 and 2012 respectively. From 2004 to 2008 he was a Teaching Assistant in the Electronic Engineering Department of the UPC. In 2008 he joined the MCIA Center, where he is currently a Research Director. His research interests include instrumentation, acoustic emission, fault detection algorithms, machine learning, signal processing methods and embedded systems. He developed his Ph.D. thesis titled “Contributions to electromechanical systems diagnosis by means of data fusion techniques”, at the MCIA Center, which was related to signal processing methods applied to multiple electromechanical faults as local and generalized bearing defects by statistical time based condition indicators from vibrations and stator currents. As result of his scientific activity, he has authored more than 40 peer reviewed scientific papers published in technical journals and conference proceedings. He is supervising currently five Ph.D. theses related with acoustic emission analysis, laser-ultrasonic NDT methods, novelty detection and diagnosis procedures. Also he is author of three patents, all of them related with the aforesaid fields of knowledge. During the last ten years, Dr. M. Delgado has participated on different EU competitive research projects in different positions: as part of the scientific and technological team, as EU FP6 “More Open Electrical Technologies” in collaboration with Goodrich, CRISA and DLR, or as Project Manager in the EU FP7 benefit for the SME “Intelligent Monitoring System based on Acoustic Emission Sensing for Plant Condition Monitoring and Preventative Maintenance, MOSYCOUSIS”, among others. At National scale he also has been responsible for research and development projects funded by private companies, in the areas of health monitoring systems.
