About the book

Green computing is the study of designing, engineering, manufacturing, using and disposing computing devices in an environmentally-friendly way. ‎Almost every person nowadays has more than one computing device which means that there are millions and millions of computing devices globally that consume a huge amount of megawatts. This is why it is crucial to design energy-efficient computers, servers‎, tablets and all other computing devices to make them green in regard to our environment, so not just in terms of energy but also in terms of their components design as well as their appropriate disposal and recycling once they run out of use.

The main goal of the book is to present the new advances in topics concerning green technologies and the computing industry. Some of them that the book wishes to cover are the following: Green computing technologies, Applications of green energy in computers, Designing energy-efficient computers, servers‎ and tablets, Green disposal‎ of computers, Minimizing the electricity consumption of computers and Green manufacturing‎ of computers. 

Publishing process

Book initiated and editor appointed

Date completed: September 9th 2020

Applications to edit the book are assessed and a suitable editor is selected, at which point the process begins.

Chapter proposals submitted and reviewed

Deadline for chapter proposals: October 7th 2020

Potential authors submit chapter proposals ready for review by the academic editor and our publishing review team.

Register for the book

Approved chapters written in full and submitted

Deadline for full chapters: December 6th 2020

Once approved by the academic editor and publishing review team, chapters are written and submitted according to pre-agreed parameters

Full chapters peer reviewed

Review results due: February 24th 2021

Full chapter manuscripts are screened for plagiarism and undergo a Main Editor Peer Review. Results are sent to authors within 30 days of submission, with suggestions for rounds of revisions.

Book compiled, published and promoted

Expected publication date: April 25th 2021

All chapters are copy-checked and typesetted before being published. IntechOpen regularly submits its books to major databases for evaluation and coverage, including the Clarivate Analytics Book Citation Index in the Web of ScienceTM Core Collection. Other discipline-specific databases are also targeted, such as Web of Science's BIOSIS Previews.

About the editor

Dr. Albert Sabban holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Colorado at Boulder, USA (1991), and an MBA from the Faculty of Management, Haifa University, Israel (2005). He is currently a Senior Lecturer and researcher at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Kinneret and Ort Braude Engineering Colleges. From 2007 to 2010, Albert Sabban was an RF and Antenna specialist at biomedical hi-tech companies where he designed wearable compact systems and antennas for medical systems. In 1976 he joined RAFAEL in Israel where he worked as a senior researcher, group leader, and project leader in the electromagnetic department until 2007. From 2008 to 2010 he worked as a RF Specialist and project leader at hi-tech biomedical companies. He has published over 100 research papers and holds a patent in the antenna area. He wrote four books on wearable compact systems and antennas for communication and medical systems. He wrote a book on electromagnetics and microwave theory for graduate students, and a book on wide band microwave technologies for communication and medical applications. He also wrote two chapters in books on microstrips and wearable printed antennas for medical applications.

Introducing your Author Service Manager

As an Author Service Manager my responsibilities include monitoring and facilitating all publishing activities for authors and editors. From chapter submission and review, to approval and revision, copyediting and design, until final publication, I work closely with authors and editors to ensure a simple and easy publishing process. I maintain constant and effective communication with authors, editors and reviewers, which allows for a level of personal support that enables contributors to fully commit and concentrate on the chapters they are writing, editing, or reviewing. I assist authors in the preparation of their full chapter submissions and track important deadlines and ensure they are met. I help to coordinate internal processes such as linguistic review, and monitor the technical aspects of the process. As an ASM I am also involved in the acquisition of editors. Whether that be identifying an exceptional author and proposing an editorship collaboration, or contacting researchers who would like the opportunity to work with IntechOpen, I establish and help manage author and editor acquisition and contact.
