Pallav Ray
Dr. Pallav Ray is an Assistant Professor of Meteorology at the Department of Marine and Environmental Systems, Florida Institute of Technology. Dr. Ray earned a PhD in Meteorology and Physical Oceanography from the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences (RSMAS), University of Miami. He has worked extensively on the tropical climate variability with an emphasis on understanding the mechanisms of the Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO) and its initiation. He was part of the team that developed and utilized the first full physics tropical channel model based on the fifth-generation mesoscale model (MM5). Dr. Ray’s other research interests include development of innovative modeling framework, tropics-extratropics interactions, tropical mean state, climate change and its impact on the society.
