Andrzej Jamiolkowski
Prof. Jamiołkowski was born in 1946 in Toruń (Poland). He graduated from the Institute of Physics of Warsaw University in 1969. His first scientific activity was connected with some mathematical aspects of the general relativity theory. Since 1969 he has been working at the Nicolaus Copernicus University, and his research interests include the foundations of quantum physics and quantum information theory. Prof. Jamiołkowski is the author and co-author of several books: Classical Mechanics, Classical Electrodynamics, Statistical Physics and Thermodynamics (all with R. S. Ingarden), Geometric Phases in Classical and Quantum Mechanics (with D. Chruściński) and Open Dynamical Systems (in Polish). From 1993 – 1999, and 2005 – 2008, he was the Rector of Nicolaus Copernicus University, and from 2002 - 2005 he was the President of Polish Accreditation Committee. He is the Editor- in- Chief of the journal Reports in Mathematical Physics and Co-Editor- in- Chief of Open Systems and Information Dynamics.
