My research experience can be summarised as: 5 patents and 22 articles. The majority of the articles have been published in journals with a high impact factor, and furthermore they have been cited 398 times to date, these credit me as scientist, an h index of 11. I have also contributed to one book and two book chapters (Published by Woodhead Publishing Limited Cambridge); in one of which I’m the sole author. I have led 10 projects, collaborated in a further 12, and supervised three PhD theses – two of which are defended early. I have also a large industrial experience in the area of development of analytical methods and instruments for market purpose: I was hired by Biolanmicrobiosensores S.A., where I led the Electro-Analysis department and was responsible for seven employees. During my time there, I led research and the development of biosensor for wine manufacturing quality control. Biosensors for gluconic acid, malic acid, fructose and glucose have all been developed in my department and are now available on the market. Currently I´m CSO and principal promotor of BioELIAS SL, where I developed original methods and instruments for determination of antioxidant activity of biological samples, new sensor for Laccase enzyme activity measurement as biomarker of botrytis cinerea infection, and new approaches for rapid determination of principal familes of polyphenols.
