Estefania Lozano-Velasco

Estefanía Lozano-Velasco, PhD is a Marie Curie Fellow at the School of Biological Science of the University of East Anglia (United Kingdom). During her PhD at the University of Jaén, she carried out two short-term research internships in the Cardiovascular Research Centre (CSIC-ICCC), Barcelona (2006) and Pasteur Institute, Paris (2008). She has built up a track record of 13 publications, and supervised several students. Recently, she has been awarded with the prize Jaén Mujer to be the most outstanding woman in science. Her research work has been focused on the study of the molecular interaction of Pitx2 with small RNAs in cardiac and skeletal muscle development and diseases, paying especial attention to their ability as molecular tool. As Marie Curie Fellow, her current main research line focuses on the interactions of microRNAs with chromatin remodelling factors and the functional consequences during heart development.
