Pavol Hvizdoš, Ph.D., MSc., has been working in the Structural Ceramics Department of Institute of Materials Research, Košice, Slovakia since 1988. In 1996 he received his Ph.D. degree in material sciences from Technical University, Košice, Slovakia. In 2000 he was awarded the Marie Curie Fellowship of European Commission to work in Queen Mary University of London, UK. Later he worked as a Ramon y Cajal Fellow at Polytechnic University of Catalonia, Barcelona, Spain. His area of scientific interest includes microstructure, mechanical and physical properties of composite structural ceramics. His experience comprises microstructural characterization and mechanical testing of ceramics. Recently he has been working in the field of contact behaviour (tribology and indentation) of nanocomposites. He has published papers in several international proceedings and major material science journals.
