He is Professor of Medicine and Director of the IBD Fellow Program at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He is National Researcher at Level 1 by CONACYT. Mentor of the Program in Master and Doctoral Programs at the Faculty of Medicine (UNAM). Dr. Yamamoto-Furusho is specialized in internal medicine, gastroenterology, gastrointestinal endoscopy and inflammatory bowel disease. He has Master´s of Science and Ph.D. degrees and he performed a postdoctoral research fellow at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard University focus on IBD research. Dr. Yamamoto-Furusho has published several papers in the IBD field and participated in several clinical trials focused on new therapeutic agents for IBD. Dr. Yamamoto-Furusho is member of the National Academy of Medicine in Mexico, American Gastroenterology Association, American College of Gastroenterology, Massachussets Medical Society, Crohn´s and Colitis Foundation of America, European Crohn´s and Colitis Society, Asociación Mexicana de Gastroenterología. Dr. Yamamoto-Furusho is a scientific reviewer in the following journals: Lancet, Gut, American Journal of Gastroenterology, Inflammatory Bowel Diseases, World Journal of Gastroenterology, Biologics: Targets and Therapy, Revista de Gastroenterología de México and others. Dr. Yamamoto-Furusho has won multiple awards including Jon Isenberg (AGA Institute), Gabino Barreda’s Medal (UNAM), Bernardo Sepulveda’s (Mexican Gastroenterology Association), Sanshiro Matsumoto’s (Japanese Embassy) and others.
