Linda May received her Bachelors in Sports Administration and Masters in Exercise Physiology from the University of Florida. In 2005, she earned her Ph.D. in Physiology from Kent State University. She previously taught histology, gross anatomy, and physiology in a systems based integrated curriculum to medical and graduate students. She has done curriculum development in medical systems based integrated curriculum. Ultimately, her projects have focused on helping mothers have healthy pregnancy in order to improve the health of women and their children during and after gestation. Currently, her research focuses on the effects of maternal exposures (e.g., exercise metrics, obesity, diabetes) during pregnancy on fetal and child development (e.g., heart, body composition, neuromotor, skeletal muscle function, metabolism). She leads a randomized control trial utilizing exercise as an intervention to determine outcomes on placenta, as well as infant cardiometabolic health at the cellular and whole body level.
