Dr. Ruziana Masiran stands as a distinguished figure in psychiatry, driven by a profound commitment to advancing family, child, and adolescent mental health. Her journey began with the completion of her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) in 2003, followed by a Doctor of Psychiatry (Dr. Psych.) degree from the National University of Malaysia (UKM) in 2013. Transitioning from clinical practice within Ministry of Health hospitals to academia in 2004 marked a pivotal shift in her career trajectory. Joining the esteemed Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Dr. Ruziana embarked on a dual role as a dedicated lecturer and a clinical practitioner at Hospital Kuala Lumpur and Hospital Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah (HSAAS). Driven by an insatiable thirst for knowledge and a profound desire to contribute to mental health advancements, Dr. Ruziana pursued and successfully completed a Ph.D. in Psychological Medicine in 2022. Her doctoral research focused on evaluating the efficacy of parenting programs in mitigating emotional and behavioral challenges among Malaysian children, a testament to her proactive approach to addressing critical societal issues. Currently serving at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences Psychiatric Clinic at HSAAS, Dr. Ruziana continues to play a pivotal role in enhancing psychiatric knowledge and promoting well-being through her commitment to education, rigorous research endeavors, and compassionate clinical practice. Her research interests span diverse areas within psychiatry, with a particular focus on autism spectrum disorder, emotional and behavioral issues affecting children and adolescents, and the dynamics of parenting in fostering healthy family environments. Dr. Ruziana's scholarly impact extends beyond her clinical practice, as evident in her prolific authorship and co-authorship of numerous publications in reputable journals such as the Malaysian Journal of Medicine and Health Sciences (MJMHS), Current Psychology, BMJ, and MDPI. Actively engaged as an assistant editor and reviewer for these journals, she plays a crucial role in shaping the discourse and dissemination of psychiatric research globally. Her multifaceted career reflects a steadfast dedication to advancing mental health care, particularly in supporting the well-being of parents, children, and families. Dr. Ruziana Masiran continues to exemplify leadership in psychiatry, fostering innovation and compassion in her pursuit of improving lives through comprehensive mental health initiatives.
