Dr. Azza Ali Kamel El-Sheikh was granted a 4-years scholarship by the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education to get her PhD degree from the Netherlands. She had obtained her bachelor degree of Medicine and Surgery in December 1993, and her Master degree in Pharmacology and Toxicology in 1998 from El-Minia University (Egypt). She worked as an assistant lecturer in the same department till November 2004, where she started her PhD at the department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, Radboud University Nijmegen, The Netherlands. During her PhD period, she received several prizes. In April 2006, she was awarded the prize for best discussion during the annual Nijmegen Center for Molecular Life Sciences conference. In that year, she also received the certificate for the best oral presentation during the drug-related research competition from Radboud University Nijmegen. She was thus elected to participate in the national competition and received honorable mention during the Netherlands Federation for Innovative Drug research (FIGON) conference in September 2006. On the 15th of October, 2008, she defended her doctoral thesis entitled “Renal Transport and Drug Interactions of Immunosuppressants” and received the Doctor title in the same date. Since November 2008, she returned to Egypt, to work as a lecturer in the department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, El-Minia University.
