Josef Kuře
Dr. Josef Kuře, philosopher and bioethicist, is Director of the University Center for Bioethics and Head of the Department of Medical Ethics, Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic. After his studies at Charles University, Prague, he received his M.A. and Ph.D. (both in philosophy) from the University of Innsbruck, Austria. Dr. Kuře is Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University, Brno. Between 2000–2003, he was Visiting Researcher at the Kennedy Institute of Ethics, Georgetown University, Washington, D.C. and Visiting Scholar at the Center for Clinical Bioethics, Georgetown University. He also serves currently as Vice-Chair of the Bioethics Committee of the Research and Development Council of the Czech Government and Chair of the Ethics Committee of the Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University, Brno. Among his research interests are research ethics, the philosophical foundations of bioethics, prospective bioethics and the ethics of enhancement.
