Dr. Yousef Najajreh is an Associate Professor in Medicinal Chemistry at the Faculty of Pharmacy. He was recruited to the Faculty of Pharmacy at Al-Quds University and was one of the main team members by 2004. Dr. Najajreh started his higher education as a Chemistry major (and math minor) at Bethlehem University. Following its closure by Israeli military order, he continued his studies at the Hebrew University where he accomplished his Bachelor's degree in Chemistry (1991). He conducted his Masters (1993) and Ph.D. (1999) in Medicinal Chemistry and specialized in anticancer agents. Between 2000 and 2004 he became a Post Doctorate fellow at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences where he was fully dedicated to studying nanotechnology approaches for the delivery and targeting of nucleic acid stretches and peptide nucleic acids (PNAs) for the treatment of restenosis. Dr. Najajreh was awarded several prizes to acknowledge his achievements. Following a four-year and a half postdoctoral fellowship, by the year 2004, he joined the Faculty of Pharmacy at Al-Quds University. He managed to establish and lead the 'Anticancer Research Drugs Research Lab” (2006). During the years 2011-2014, Dr. Najajreh was the Dean of Scientific Research and later the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy (August 2014 and 2017). Dr. Najajreh teaches Organic and Medicinal Chemistry for Pharmacy students, Chemotherapeutics of Cancer, Drug Metabolism, Modern Synthetic Methods, and Chemistry of Medicinal Natural Products, to list a few. He participated in biennial meetings of WSF and the International Human Rights Network of Academies and Scholarly Societies (H.R. Network).
