Febronia Kahabuka

Febronia is a Professor in Pediatric Dentistry working at Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences. She graduated with DDS and MSc at the University of Dar es Salaam Tanzania and holds a Ph.D. in Dental Traumatology from the University of Nijmegen, The Netherlands. During her teaching carrier of 35 years, she has supervised both undergraduate and postgraduate students’ research. Her research work is primarily focused on children and adolescents’ oral health (diseases and conditions, management of child behavior in the dental clinic; knowledge and involving parents and teachers to attain children’s good oral health; traditional beliefs and harmful practices; child behavior management in the dental setting; children and adolescent’ knowledge, behavior and practices) but also on HIV AIDS, national oral health surveys and other oral health issues. Febronia has also worked on best management practices of dental amalgam promoting the use of alternative dental materials. She has edited two books and written several book chapters. She has served as Editor-in-Chief of Tanzania Dental Journal and a member of the editorial board of various professional journals. She is also a member of Tanzania Dental Association, Federation of Dentaire Internationale, Medical Association of Tanzania, Medical Women Association of Tanzania and is a fellow of Tanzania Academy of Sciences (TAAS).
