Dr. Basyouni Hamada is Professor of Communication and Public Opinion at the Department of Mass Communication, Qatar University. He has 35 years of teaching and academic experience in which he presented more than 82 papers in peer-refereed international conferences, published several Arabic and English articles which appeared in Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly, Journalism Studies, Journal of International Communication, Journal of Development Communication, Journal of Arab and Muslim Communication Research, Global Media Journal, and the Egyptian Journal of Communication Research. He also published several books and chapters in both English and Arabic. Dr. Hamada has served as, Editor, Associate Editor for several international refereed journals, organized, chaired and co-chaired several conferences. He has presented many keynote speeches, established and reviewed a number of mass communication and journalism programs, supervised and co-supervised and examined more than 40 Master and Ph.D. theses. Dr. Hamada’s research interests cover several interdisciplinary research areas including global and political communication, press freedom, corruption and political instability, journalism ethics, media systems and democratization, public opinion, the Islamic perspective of communication studies, communication technologies and Arab cultural identity. In 2010, he received the Cairo University Award for Outstanding Scholarship and Research.
