Lynn Zijenah

Lynn S Zijenah received the BSc Hons degree Applied Biology from Thames Polytechnic, London United Kingdom, in 1983, an MSc degree in Biophysics/Biochemistry from Memorial University of Newfoundland, Newfoundland, Canada in 1986, and a PhD degree in Vascular Pathology from the University of Cambridge, Cambridge, United Kingdom in 1991. In 1993, she joined the University of Zimbabwe Medical School, as a Lecturer in Immunology, and became a Senior Lecturer in 2001. In 2004 she was promoted to Associate Professor of Immunology at the University of Zimbabwe College of Health Sciences (UZCHS) and became a Full Professor in 2008. She was Chairperson of the Department of Immunology UZCHS from 2005 to 2016. Professor Zijenah’s research interests include immunogenetics of infectious diseases, prevention of mother-to-child transmission of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), development and evaluation of novel point-of-care diagnostic tools for HIV and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. She is a Fellow of the Zimbabwe Academy of Sciences.
