Zorita M. Diaconeasa
Dr. Diaconeasa Zoriţa is working as Lecturer in the Biochemistry Department of the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Cluj-Napoca. Her line of research is related to the bioaccessibility, bioavailability and biological activity of plant bioactive components in human and animal cell models, with a particular focus on (poly) phenolic compounds, mainly anthocyanins. Currently, she is leading the in vitro experiments for a 3 national projects, for one of them being the project director. During last 3 years she was an active member in 3 national projects being responsible for the solid phase extraction (SPE) and LC-MS analysis. Zorita demonstrated autonomy and visibility primarily by the novelty of her research topics and the interdisciplinary nature of the research fields like phytochemistry, nanotechnology and cell biology. The research autonomy and visibility has always been highlighted by her involvement in multidisciplinary collaborations and therefore she has been part of other research projects as a member in 10 national and international grants, among which 6 are on the similar theme as the present proposal. The research work conducted as project manager in 3 national grants proves beyond any doubts the abilities to conduct a novel and a high-quality research. Moreover, the project leader has over 60 published papers, mostly addressing anthocyanins purification, identification and their antioxidant potential in vitro. Her multiple international collaborations with scientists from USA, Belgium, Egypt, UK, Turkey are confirmed by publications. It is worth mentioning that now she is leading a young research team and established new collaborations at University of Parma and The James Hutton Institute, UK.
