J. Kevin Summers
Dr. Kevin Summers received his Ph.D. in Biology from the University of South Carolina in 1979 for developing a model of water quality and ecology of the North Inlet estuary. He has since worked for a decade on water quality and ecological impact issues in Chesapeake Bay and for three decades examining assessments of the national ecological condition of estuaries and developing indices of human well-being and community resilience to natural hazards. He has authored and co-authored numerous journal articles, book chapters, and made over 300 presentations at scientific fora and other non-scientific meetings. Dr. Summers has received numerous awards from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and from professional societies.
