Jorge Salgado Gomes

Jorge Salgado Gomes has 30 years of experience in the industry with several companies (BP Minerals, EDMA, PARTEX, QGPC, Hot-RC2 and ADCO) and academia (The Petroleum Institute). He holds a Master of Science in Geology from Oporto University (Portugal) and a MEng and PhD degrees in Petroleum Engineering from Heriot-Watt University (Edinburgh). During his career Dr. Gomes has worked in exploration and production and was also involved in large field development activities (major fields producing > 200,000 BOPD). Currently, Dr. Gomes is a PARTEX Chaired Professor at the Petroleum Institute in Abu Dhabi, doing research and teaching reservoir characterization. He is a member of SPE, AAPG, EAGE and SCA. He is the co-author of a university textbook about the oil and gas industry (ISBN 978-972-31-1228-3), and has published several papers.
