Soundarapandian Vijayakumar

Dr. Vijayakumar is currently an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Pediatrics and Pharmacology & Physiology at the University of Rochester. He has held research positions at the Columbia University in the City of New York as well as the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, TX. As a young scientist, he has spent time at the University of Ulm, Germany and International Center for Theoretical Physics, Italy. He has published in several leading journals such as the Journal of Cell Biology and Journal of Clinical Investigation, primarily on the role of hensin in acid-base physiology. His research has mainly focused on the cell biology and physiology of kidney collecting duct and his current work is on the extracellular abnormalities in polycystic kidney disease.
