Prof. Dr. Mohammed Naguib Abd El-Ghany Hasaneen was born on January 28th 1953. He received his Bachelor of Science (Botany) Honours on Mansoura University, Egypt in 1973, was awarded Master of Science in Plant Physiology in 1978, and received his PhD degree in the same field in 1982. From 1975 to 2024 he has gone through being an appointed demonstrator, assistant lecturer, lecturer, assistant professor, professor to being an emeritus professor of Plant Physiology and the ex-Head of Botany Department. He has also been appointed as an external examiner to numerous MSc and PhD theses as well as a reviewer for several highly ranked scientific journals, including American Journal of Environment and Pollution, Pakistan Journal of Cytology and Molecular Biology, Indian Journal of Biological Sciences and Plant Soil & Environment. His research efforts were directed towards various aspects of growth and metabolism of plants and during the last two decades he became interested in physiological, biochemical and molecular mechanisms, associated with tolerance of crop plants to environmental stress, and in Biotechnology, with particular emphasis on salinity, drought, water logging, chilling, herbicides and production of biopolymers. In addition, in the last decade he became interested in nanotechnology. In particular, nanofertilizers, nano drug delivery systems and nano smart farming. So far he has published 79 papers in national and international journals in the fields of Plant Physiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Herbicides, Molecular Biology, Biomaterials and Nanotechnology.
