Ali G. Hessami
Ali Hessami is currently Director of R&D and Innovation at Vega Systems and a UK expert on the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) systems, hardware and software safety, and security standards. He chaired the Institute of Electronic and Electrical Engineers (IEE) 7000 standard “Addressing Ethical Concerns in System Design” and was later appointed as the VC and process architect of IEEE’s Certification Program for Autonomous and Intelligent Systems (CertifAIEd). He also chairs BSI’s GEL/9/6 subcommittee focused on machine learning (ML), artificial intelligence (AI), and cybersecurity standardization in railways. He is a visiting professor at London City University’s Centre for Systems and Control and at Beijing Jiaotong University, China. He is also a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) and the UK Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), as well as a life senior member of the IEEE.
