Horacio Martinez-Alfaro
Dr. Horacio Martínez-Alfaro obtained his Ph.D., major in robotics, from Iowa State University in 1993; a M.Sc., major in Control Engineering, from ITESM in 1986; and a B.Sc., major in Mechanical Engineering, from Saltillo Technological Institute in 1984. He has been a professor at the Center for Artificial Intelligence, Center for Intelligent Systems, Center for Intelligent Computing and Robotics, and the department of Mechatronics and Automation at ITESM, Campus Monterrey since 1985. He has supervised more than 50 M.Sc. and Ph.D.s in the area of Automatic Control, Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science. He has also authored or co-authored many publications in journals and international conferences, and has given numerous seminars and talks about those topics. His research is focused on optimization applied to finance, robotics, and automatic control using nature inspired techniques like simulated annealing, ant colony optimization, neural networks, and evolutionary computation.
