IntechOpen's Books Donated to Central Library of the Autonomous University of Baja California

23 April 2012

IntechOpen is pleased to announce that 14 of its books in the field of Engineering and Technology have been donated to the central library of the Autonomous University of Baja California.

Dr. Benjamin Valdez Salas, Dean of the Engineering Institute at the aforementioned university and presenter at the donation ceremony, has edited 2 of the books, also co-authoring 4 research papers for IntechOpen. Among other renowned researchers currently employed at the University of  Baja California, we find our own Margarita Stoytcheva, editor of many IntechOpen books and the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Agricultural Chemistry. The ceremony was also attended by the following IntechOpen authors: Doctors Gisela Montero, Michael Schorr and Roumen Zlatev, while Dr. Oleg Sergiyenko was in Ukraine and unable to attend.

Dr. Salas pointed out that it is very important that the research performed at the university is made known and that "it is a great advantage that the latest discoveries published in the books are available to such a wide audience". He also explained that Mexico will have three opportunities to view these hard copies. One collection was donated to the Campus Mexicali Central Library, another one will stay at the Institute of Engineering and another one will be displayed in different fairs around the county.

The prestigious Universidad Autonoma da Baja California's International Book Fair was the first event to present IntechOpen's collection on this specific subject in Mexico. Thousands of visitors got the chance to visit IntechOpen's booth and browse through our open access publications. According to Dr. Salas, the visiting public was eager to learn about open access, its advantages, and IntechOpen's efforts in free knowledge promotion; his final thoughts on the whole event can be summed up in 3 simple words: "A real success!"
