Renewable-Hydrogen is considered a key sustainable solution towards achieving the green energy transition. Integrating hydrogen energy storage systems with renewables will address the renewables intermittency challenge by balancing generation with consumption and thus enable renewables increased grid integration while providing grid stability. This issue aims to support the wide implementation of zero-carbon energy technologies in the decarbonization of different sectors through the development of modeling tools that enable the optimal sizing of hybrid renewable generation supported by energy storage while enabling optimal energy management between the system components and reduced levelized cost of energy. The scope of this special issue would be exploring the most recent advances in renewable energy storage technologies, including Hydrogen energy storage technology. Research should provide the optimal sizing and modeling of the hybrid renewable-hydrogen energy system within different end uses like buildings, transport, industry, and the power grid. The system modeling should utilize novel tools and approaches to optimally size and design the different system components and simulate their operation while considering the system economics and environmental footprint.
