Scope

The aim is to provide an opportunity for experts to converge their expertise and present their innovative approaches that promote the efficient and environmentally friendly conversion of biomass into valuable products. The emphasis is on waste valorization and its applicability in the realization of the circular economy concept. Unlocking the sustainable valorization of biomass requires interdisciplinary collaboration, drawing upon insights from fields such as chemistry, engineering, biology, materials science, and environmental science. This special issue acknowledges the complexity of the challenges involved in biomass valorization and seeks to harness the collective knowledge of researchers from diverse backgrounds to develop green processes that minimize environmental impact and maximize resource efficiency. Researchers are invited to propose relevant research papers and reviews. Potential topics include, but are not limited to, the following:

Keywords

  • Green Solvents

  • Sustainable Processes

  • Waste Valorization

  • Biomass Utilization

Topics

  • Green extractions and solvents (Supercritical fluid extraction, Subcritical water extraction, Ultrasound-assisted extraction / microwave-assisted extraction, solvent free extraction, membrane separation, deep eutectic solvents, ionic liquids, etc.)
  • Scale-up of the extraction process
  • Sustainability
  • Waste/by-products valorization
  • Circular economy
