The special issue aims to explore and showcase the mutually reinforcing relationship between digital transformation and the transition towards environmental sustainability. This special issue seeks to investigate how digital technologies can act as essential catalysts, enabling and accelerating the shift towards a green and sustainable future. It also aims to provide a platform for researchers and practitioners to share insights, research findings, and innovative solutions, demonstrating how digital advancements can drive and support environmental sustainability efforts across various sectors and domains.

The global community is facing twin challenges – the imperative to transition towards a sustainable, green economy and the need for a digital transformation across various sectors. These transitions are interconnected, with digital technologies playing a pivotal role in facilitating the shift towards sustainability. This special issue aims to: 1. explore the symbiotic relationship between digital transformation and the green transition, showcasing how innovative digital solutions can accelerate environmental sustainability efforts. 2. to bridge the gap between digital transformation and environmental sustainability by showcasing the latest research and practical applications. By exploring how digital technologies can be harnessed as enablers of the green transition, this special issue will contribute valuable insights and solutions to the pressing challenges of our time. This special issue invites contributions that delve into various aspects of the twin transition, where digital transformation acts as an enabler for sustainable development.
