ADVANCEMENTS IN BIOMATERIALS FOR BIOMEDICAL APPLICATIONS

This special issue is intended to highlight the most recent trends and research on today's performance biomaterials for colleagues working very hard on this topic. In addition to natural and synthetic polymers, bio-inert and bioactive ceramics, all progressions in new novel biomaterials for medical applications and research, and progress on metallic biomaterials (titanium alloys, cobalt alloys, magnesium alloys, and stainless-steel alloys), are welcome to be published and shared.

Scope

Biomaterials are currently considered a separate class of materials essential to enhancing and extending the quality of human life. The development and research of alloys for use in healthcare and biological applications are a continuing worldwide issue. Biomaterials must meet the functional requirements according to the medical applications in which they are utilized since the body must tolerate them for a long time (decades). These materials must continue to be improved for a stronger connection with the human body and to avoid all the negative effects associated with present biomaterials. The scope of this Special Issue includes the application, processing, and testing of modern biomaterials (metals, bioglasses, composites, ceramics, polymers etc.) covering the most recent advances in implantable biocompatible alloys with relevant practical applications, but also compressive reviews are welcome.
