About the book

The Biosignal Processing book presents the signal processing approaches for analysis of EEG, EMG, ECG, and other biological signals with a human source. These processes aim to identify the medical conditions and to assist with the diagnosis of the related diseases. The analysis of muscular, cardiac, and neurological signals in an automated identification structure would improve the accuracy of the diagnosis when the robustness of the methods has been considered, and the false positive alarm is in an affordable range. The analysis of biological signals using customized signal processing methods in combination with the artificial intelligent identification methods would contribute to the diagnosis process of the patients. Topics on the modeling of the biological signals, acquisition of biomedical signals based on the disorder under study, computer-aided design of the healthcare plan, and identification of the symptoms using artificial intelligence methods are welcome.

This book would be beneficial for advanced research scholars and higher education students in biomedical engineering.

IntechOpen regularly submits its books to major databases for evaluation and coverage, including the Clarivate Analytics Book Citation Index in the Web of ScienceTM Core Collection. Vahid Asadpour is currently with Kaiser Permanente Southern California at the Department of Research and Evaluation, while also affiliated with Polytechnic University of Sadjad. He graduated from Polytechnic University of Tehran achieving M.S. and PH.D. degree in biomedical engineering. He was a visiting professor and researcher at University of North Dakota. Dr. Asadpour is working in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning and their applications in digital signal processing. In addition, he is using digital signal processing in medical imaging and speech processing. He developed brain computer interfacing algorithms and published one book chapter and several journal and conference papers in this field and other areas of intelligent signal processing. Adding to his professional experimental skills, he also designed medical devices including a laser Doppler monitoring system and therapeutic drug estimation algorithm.

Introducing your Author Service Manager

As an Author Service Manager my responsibilities include monitoring and facilitating all publishing activities for authors and editors. From chapter submission and review, to approval and revision, copy-editing and design, until final publication, I work closely with authors and editors to ensure a simple and easy publishing process. I maintain constant and effective communication with authors, editors and reviewers, which allows for a level of personal support that enables contributors to fully commit and concentrate on the chapters they are writing, editing, or reviewing. I assist authors in the preparation of their full chapter submissions and track important deadlines and ensure they are met. I help to coordinate internal processes such as linguistic review, and monitor the technical aspects of the process. As an ASM I am also involved in the acquisition of editors. Whether that be identifying an exceptional author and proposing an editorship collaboration, or contacting researchers who would like the opportunity to work with IntechOpen, I establish and help manage author and editor acquisition and contact.
