About the book
This book will discuss the scientific importance of studying the gravitational field and the extent of its economic importance. It will also review the basic facts of the Earth's gravitational field, how to measure it, and developments of the gravity theory to help in constructing applications used in explorations and geodesy. Moreover, gravity measurements are an integral part of the various geological uses, for example in exploring the Earth’s interior and its dynamic processes, in studying the shape of the Earth, in hydrocarbon explorations, mining development, geothermal investigations, archaeological exploration, and others.
The content of the book will include selected chapters covering different topics related to studying and applying gravity field data and different case histories around the world. In addition, emphasizing the necessary principles of gravity forward modeling and inversion to overcome the uniqueness and ill-posed solutions and influence of noise will be highlighted.
