About the book

Reproduction is the production of a new organism from two parents by making use of their gametes. It allows increasing of the genetic variability and diversity of individuals. The reproductive organs, which are different in male and female animals, are called gonads and produce the gametes. It is well known that reproduction success is measured by the number of offspring that survive. While all terrestrial animals use the internal fertilization, aquatic animals have diverse reproductive systems. Additionally, it is important to know that reproduction is a complex biological process that includes some genetic events which make possible application of some biotechnological research such as germ cell transplantation and nucleus transplantation.

The proposed book, “Animal Reproduction”, is intended to provide a new perspective on reproductive biology and biotechnology in different animals living in the land and aquatic-based environments. From this point of view, this book will be of interest to graduate and postgraduate students as well as to researchers and academicians studying in this field.

Introducing your Author Service Manager

Ms. Kristina Kardum Cvitan

As an Author Service Manager my responsibilities include monitoring and facilitating all publishing activities for authors and editors. From chapter submission and review, to approval and revision, copyediting and design, until final publication, I work closely with authors and editors to ensure a simple and easy publishing process. I maintain constant and effective communication with authors, editors and reviewers, which allows for a level of personal support that enables contributors to fully commit and concentrate on the chapters they are writing, editing, or reviewing. I assist authors in the preparation of their full chapter submissions and track important deadlines and ensure they are met. I help to coordinate internal processes such as linguistic review, and monitor the technical aspects of the process. As an ASM I am also involved in the acquisition of editors. Whether that be identifying an exceptional author and proposing an editorship collaboration, or contacting researchers who would like the opportunity to work with IntechOpen, I establish and help manage author and editor acquisition and contact.
