Dr Nasr Bensalah have more than 14 years of experience in teaching and research electrochemistry. My research interests are focused onelectrochemical methods for water treatment and corrosion kinetics. My researches cover also the field of water and wastewaters treatment by different processes including coagulation and adsorption techniques, ozonation, chemical treatment (chlorine and others oxidants such as pesulfate, permanganate, iodate…), and chemical advanced oxidation processes (UV/H2O2, UV/O3/H2O2, Fenton, photo-Fenton,..). I have published more than 40 papers in high impact factor international journals and supervised more than 12 graduate students. My research areas cover the following topics: - Electrochemical technologies for water treatment - Corrosion kinetics and control - Water and wastewaters treatment by chemical and physical methods - Chlorination/Dechlorination processes for drinking water -

Taking into account that corrosion is costly and dangerous phenomenon, it becomes obvious that people engaged in the design and the maintenance of structures and equipment, should have a basic understanding of localized corrosion processes. The Editor hopes that this book will be helpful for researchers in conducting investigations in the field of localized corrosion, as well as for engineers encountering pitting and crevice corrosion, by providing some basic information concerning the causes, prevention, and control of pitting corrosion.
