Gian Nicola Bisciotti M. Sci., Ph D., graduated in Science and Technology of Sports and Physical Activity at the University Claude Bernard Lyon, France. At the same University Institute he obtained the specialization in Biology and Physiology of the Exercise, and a Ph.D in Biomechanics from the University of Besançon, France. From 1996 to 2009 he was Professor at the Faculty of Sport Sciences in the Claude Bernard University of Lyon and from 1999 to 2009, he was a physical trainer for FC Internazionale Milano (I). Currently he is a Physiologist Lead in Doha Qatar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital, FIFA Center of Excellence (Q). He has published several papers and books on biomechanics, physiology and sport rehabilitation.

Muscle tears are one of the most common pathologies in sport and one of the most frequent causes of sport activity suspension. The purpose of this book is to review the state of the art of the actual knowledge on muscle tears in athletes, in particular for what concern the biology of muscle healing, the conservative and surgical treatments and the preventive aspects. Therefore, this textbook can be a valid tool for all Sport Medicine practitioners such as physicians, physiotherapists and fitness coaches.
